The Boulder Phase: When What Feels Like Resistance Becomes Support

What if the boulder was never meant to be moved, but to support you?

I just sit here, breathing deeply, as I feel the shift take root in the depths of my being. This is SO powerful! Both a map and an incantation, this piece about the boulder phase makes me want to run outside and dance in the sun, screaming, "I'm free!" Thank you for helping me shift pressure to perspective.

Nicole, this lands so deeply.
I can feel the shift you’re describing, and it means a lot knowing how much of this we’ve explored together.

“Pressure to perspective” is such a powerful way to name it.
Thank you for being part of the field this came through.

There comes a point in life
when effort no longer works the way it once did.

You are still capable.
Still thoughtful.
Still willing.

And yet something changes.

What once moved forward through determination
now feels heavier.

Less responsive.
Harder to force.

Most people meet this moment
by trying to push harder.

A better plan.
More discipline.
More effort.

But what if the boulder was never the problem?

The Misunderstanding

For much of our lives,
we learn to relate to challenge
as something to overcome.

Something to move.
Something to fix.
Something to get past.

The boulder becomes an obstacle.

And we become the one responsible
for pushing it uphill.

For a time, this works.

It builds strength.
It creates momentum.
It gets us here.

But eventually,
something begins to shift.

The same effort that once created progress
begins to create friction.

Not because you are doing something wrong
but because life is inviting you
to relate to it differently.

What If the Boulder Is Not the Problem

What if the boulder was never meant to be moved?

What if it was placed here
as something steady
in the midst of everything that is changing?

What if this moment
is not asking for more effort
but for a different relationship?

Instead of pushing against the boulder
what happens if you pause
and place your hands on it?

Instead of standing beneath its weight
what happens if you step onto it?

From Pressure to Perspective

From beneath the boulder
there is pressure.

From above it
there is perspective.

The situation itself may not change.

But your position within it can.

And that changes everything.

Nothing Needs to Be Fixed

There is a quiet truth
that begins to emerge here.

This is not something to fix.

This is not something to solve.

This is something to experience
without making it wrong.

Because underneath the pressure
underneath the frustration
underneath the urge to push

there is something else present.

Something steady.

Something supportive.

Something that has been here all along.

The Role of the Field

The field is not something you enter.

You are already in it.

And the field itself
is not neutral.

The field is love.

When you cannot feel that
it is not because it is gone.

It is because something
is filtering your view.

Fear.
Expectation.
Old ways of trying to stay safe.

These do not remove love.

They obscure it.

Like clouds covering the sun
they do not diminish the light.

They simply make it harder to see.

Dissolving Instead of Forcing

The instinct in moments like this
is to do something.

To fix.
To adjust.
To move.

But what if this moment
is not asking for more doing?

What if it is asking for allowing?

Allowing the pressure to be felt
without immediately trying to change it.

Allowing the discomfort
without building a story around it.

Allowing the system
to settle on its own.

This is not passive.

It is deeply active in a different way.

It is the beginning of trust.

Patience Is What Opens the View

Patience is often misunderstood.

It is not waiting for something better.

It is the willingness
to be with what is here
without making it wrong.

Patience creates space.

And in that space
something begins to soften.

The filters loosen.

The grip relaxes.

And slowly
what was obscured
comes back into view.

The Return of Clarity

Clarity does not arrive
because you figured it out.

It arrives
because the interference faded.

Love was not created.

It was revealed.

Support was not added.

It was recognized.

The boulder did not move.

You did.

A Different Kind of Strength

There is a strength
that comes from pushing.

And there is a strength
that comes from allowing.

One is built on effort.

The other is built on relationship.

As this phase unfolds
you begin to discover
that you do not need to push life forward
in order to move.

You begin to experience
what it feels like
to be supported by something larger
than your own effort.

What Becomes Possible

From this place
something subtle but powerful emerges.

You are still engaged.
Still present.
Still moving.

But not from pressure.

From steadiness.

From clarity.

From a quiet sense
that you are not alone in this process.

And from here
even in the midst of uncertainty
something becomes available
that was not accessible before.

Perspective.
Space.
And a deeper connection
to the part of you
that already knows how to move.

Reflection

Where in your life
have you been trying to push
something that may not need to be moved?

What would shift
if you allowed yourself
to pause
and relate to it differently?

What might become visible
if nothing needed to be fixed
in this moment?

Closing

The boulder may not be in your way.

It may be here
to hold you steady
while everything else
is learning how to move.

With appreciation for the unfolding.
